Scene 9C
Action/Setting - Two mechanics (O'Rourke - red-headed Irishman and Nitro - street thug with a true heart) are working on a stolen car. An old, abandoned, and dusty car shop on the edge of a nondescript urban cityscape. We hear the clank of tools and gears and aluminium. The two mechanics are talking about how they both desire to leave the world of crime.
Nitro - hand me a 3/8ths axle wrench
O'Rourke - you mean a 5/8ths axle wrench?
Nitro (lifts his head and stares off into the distance) - yeah….sorry
O'Rourke (laughing a bit) - ha ha, do I need to adjust your lug-nuts or something - you are spacing out on me.
Nitro - (continuing to work) - I know...I know...It’s just that - I got a family to think about now.
O'Rourke - I do, too! But that doesn’t mean we can stop. We can’t get weak. We can’t lose focus. Not yet anyway.
Nitro - (thinking deeply and whispering) - how much more….how much more will it take until we are done?
O'Rourke - (standing up and putting down a hammer. He wipes his greasy hands on a piece of cloth) - Our contract with Tennessee isn’t up until the end of the month. So, at the rate we are going, that is...300 more cars - at least.
Nitro - AT LEAST?!
O'Rourke - Hey you knew what you were signing up for when you looked at Tennessee in the eyes and shook his hand. As soon as you put your name on that slip of paper - you were his.
Nitro - But that was when he said that we would only be boosting premium cars! That was nearly a year ago- I have done my time!
O'Rourke - You realize what Tennessee would do to you if he found out that you were talking like this, don’t you? He’d knock your teeth out, one at a time, with that goddamn hammer! You want to get away from this life - you got to start working - Now!
